Welcome to a New Semester with ODK!

Welcome to all ODKers, past and present!

With the start of a new semester, campus is bustling with driven students, new buildings, and great ideas. Similarly, ODK is excited to begin making change on campus once again with both tradition and new initiatives. It’s a combination sure to make an impact on our College Park community; check out what we’re up to this year!

The Sigma Circle celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2017, and the ODK Fountain celebrates 20 years. In the spirit of recognizing all of ODK’s past achievements and those to come, we hope to bring alumni and current students together to celebrate. Our alumni hold a great wealth of knowledge and Terp pride, and we strive to involve them more in the lives of students through career nights, networking events, and socials.

To complement our community-building, ODK aims to give back. We want to turn the focus on bettering all aspects of students’ health: mental, physical, social, and spiritual. ODK will also conduct campus cleanups, food drives, charity fundraisers, and awareness-generating events for deserving causes.

The highlight of each semester is welcoming a new group of ODKers to our Sigma Circle family; we look forward to this unique new cohort! You still have time to apply here www.odk.umd.edu/application.

If you or your student organization would like to collaborate with ODK, feel free to reach out to odk@umd.edu. We are excited about starting the year strong with teamwork and impactful action!

That’s all for now,

Sam Bingaman
ODK Sigma Circle President

Why You Should Come to Calvert Cotillion

I don’t want to alarm you, but, Calvert Cotillion is coming up on February 26th! Tickets are available for purchase at ter.ps/CalvCot16, but won’t be for too much longer.

"Ohmigosh! Ohmigosh! I need to get my CalvCot tickets!"
“Ohmigosh! Ohmigosh! I need to get my CalvCot tickets!”

Now’s not the time to panic, though. We need you to focus and think about all of the reasons you want to go to CalvCot.

Old time tradition
First, you should know that Calvert Cotillion is a Maryland tradition that stretches back decades. Terps have been cutting a rug at the annual Senior formal for almost 80 years now!

Your Terrapin forebears knew how to have a good time.

Hang out with your friends
You’ve been through so much together here at Maryland. Now’s the time to celebrate that bond. There will be hugs. There will be tears. There will be a cash bar.

"There, there. We'll always be Terps."
“There, there. We’ll always have College Park.”

Get dressed up
It’s not often that you get to dress up in College Park, but, let’s be honest, you look marvelous. Take the opportunity to show off your style and panache.

DJ Khaled suggests you not play yourself. Get your tickets for CalvCot.

Dance!
It doesn’t really matter how you get down. What’s most important here is that you get out on that dance floor and shake your thing. You’ve got moves! Show them off!

Show up. Get down. Have a good time.
Show up. Get down. Have a good time.

Maryland Magic
Ok, put them all together – tradition, friendship, fierce fashion and dance – and what have you got? An evening of pure Maryland Magic, of course.
